Community Patron Guide

This guide is intended to clearly lay out policies and provide resources as relevant to community patrons.

What is a Community Patron?

Within the Indiana University Northwest library, community patron is defined as a person who is not enrolled or working at Indiana University, but is an Indiana resident OR an Ivy Tech student.

CURE

The IU Northwest Center for Urban and Regional Excellence (CURE) engages the university and the community in the creation of positive, sustainable, and impactful programs and initiatives. Notable community education/outreach programs include:

  • Senior University
    • This program engages individuals ages 55+ in a variety of free, lifelong learning opportunities throughout the year.
  • IUN Community Garden
    • The garden is open to the public and also offers free educational programming.
  • Adult Education
    • This program promotes professional development, lifelong learning, and personal enrichment through a combination of free and fee-based sessions.

CURE's offices can be found on the library first floor, to the right when coming in through the south entrance (35th Street). Access to the offices is by appointment only except during on-campus programs. Most on-campus CURE programs are held in this space.
