Virtual Writing Center

Writing Center tutors are utilizing real-time online tutoring. Sessions are conducted through Google Docs; this way, students and tutors can make changes to the paper together. Simultaneous Zoom calls are also recommended as a way to increase productivity during appointments.

Appointments can be used to:

  • Generate ideas/brainstorm
  • Organize information
  • Restructure papers
  • Assist on integration of source material

The Writing Center does NOT edit/proofread. If the student's concern is grammar, a tutor may review key issues within the paper and explain how to fix them, but tutors will not go through a paper and correct every grammatical issue.

Students can schedule appointments via email at iunwc@iun.edu and must send in a copy of their paper, their assignment guidelines, and a non-IU Gmail account. If you encounter any difficulties gaining access to a writing tutor, contact Dr. Garin Cycholl at gcycholl@iun.edu or (219) 980-6568.
