Background resources consist of encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, or any general reference materials. Background resources provide a good starting point for research to learn more about topics. Please note that background resources such as encyclopedias are not typically cited in research papers as a source, as they help you get started with developing a topic. Check with your professor before citing encyclopedias.
