APA, MLA, and Other Citation Styles

Your guide to help format and cite resources in multiple different styles!

• APA (American Psychological Association): for social sciences, especially Psychology and Sociology.
• MLA (Modern Language Association): common in the humanities, especially History, Philosophy, Literature, Art, Music, and more. There are two editions used: the 7th and 8th.
• Chicago (University of Chicago)/Turabian (Kate L. Turabian): known for its heavy use of footnotes and cross references, it is commonly used in history books and papers.
• Other Styles:
  • American Chemical Society: primarily used for chemistry and ACS publications
  • American Medical Association: for Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA)
